Active Release Technique (A.R.T.) is a patented, state-of-the-art soft tissue system/movement based technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Whether it’s from an acute injury, poor posture, or overuse, the body can build up scar tissue. This scar tissue can reduce movement, interfere with proper nerve function, and increase pain. The goal of A.R.T. is to restore optimal texture, motion, and function of the soft tissue and release any entrapped nerves or blood vessels. This is accomplished through the removal of adhesions or fibrosis in the soft tissues via the application of specific protocols where the doctor applies tension to the designated tissue, then takes that tissue through its full range of motion.
A.R.T. is often the main soft tissue treatment for collegiate, professional, and Olympic athletes. A.R.T. can help reduce and/or eliminate musculoskeletal dysfunction and pain associated with, but not limited to: headaches, back pain, plantar fasciitis, shoulder pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, sciatica, knee pain and TMJ dysfunction.
